Do you think this is a good or bad idea? I am raising money with my crafts at a yard sale this saturday
all the money helps shelter dogs and cats. I have made little bead and string bracelets for kids and I have made fancy wire and glass bead bracelets for girls and adults, I've made a couple pillows and keychains and all kinds of stuff. I just need a little bit more merchandise. I was thinking of making all kinds of dog treats (because I have recipes for dog cake and cookies) and then making a menu and they can order treats and I can put them in doggy bags (paper bags) and charge like 50 cents a treat or something . But what if people worry that the treats aren't heathly or like I put poisen in them? The recipes are supposebly safe for dogs and I have made them for my dog many times but what will that customers think?
Luma R replied: "thats a great idea"
Erica Lynn replied: "It's a great idea and your parents should be so proud of you for helping the shelter. I would recommend keeping a list of the recipes with you so that you can show people the ingredients. Some people have dogs with allergies and won't buy anything unless they know what went into it. Good luck with your fund raiser!"
Corey B replied: "If you explain why you're doing it, they probably won't have a problem... also you can post the ingredients on the outside of the bags so they know what they are feeding their dogs.... I ALWAYS read the bag of dog food at the store (even though mine no longer eats kibble). You'd be surprised to know what's in there."
Abbygail replied: "I would definitely do it. I would sell the recipe with the bag of treats though. Put the recipe on a piece of paper that is cut out like a bone, that would be cute.
I'm sure if people realize that this money is being donated to help shelter dogs/cats they will realize you would never poison their pet.
I would buy from you. Good Luck - and good for you for helping our homeless animals!!!!!!"
lauren_a3 replied: "It's a good idea, if they dont ask whats in it you dont need to tell them. But if they do you should the container of whatever you put in it (the ingredient containers) next to you, so you can show them what you put in your homeade treats. That way they know whats in it."
Daniel E replied: "i think thats bad idea because some dogs are very sensitive to food please don't do it try making cookies"
bigdonut72 replied: "people will trust you. put the recipe on a little note with each treat. that way, they can read the ingredients, and have the recipe in case their dog likes them. (maybe people would buy it just for the recipe).
you could also find fresh catnip (greenhouses or wild grown) dry it and sew it into little pillows or tie it in little socks.
And thank you for raising money for the strays. Shelters really do appreciate your help."
Theresa replied: "I think It is very nice of you to think of them poor shelter animals. If you are worried about what people will think of what is in them then put the ingredients on the bags and it will be up to the people if they want to get the treats or not."
Stanley the Westie replied: "I think you are a good person. If you explain to them your motive they should trust you. Way to go..*cheers*"
hanksimon replied: "List the ingredients. You don't have to list the detailed recipe. But most people will trust you. If you make a mistake, you will lose business. And if you are a criminal, then everyone will be able to trace the problem back to you. Look how fast and "easy" it was to trace the problem with canned dog food back to the Chinese. Dog cookies would show problems much more quickly.
So unless you are a criminal :-), don't worry about the small number of people who are scared. All you can do is show them that your own dog eats them... That might be a selling point. Teach your dog a cute trick, and let them give him one of their cookies, to get him to perform.
Entertainment, more sales... and trust."
norma replied: "On the outside of the bag list the ingredients so that people will see what is it the dog treats. Best of luck on your venture."
marilynmonroeisgreat replied: "rrrrr thats sooo good of you! your mum and dad must be soo proud ! i would be lol anyway i think you should do it!! and just explain what your doing it for and show them the recipe...and tell them if they aint sure then dont buy it from you...no good dog owner is gonna risk there dog from getting ill !!"
photo_gal31 replied: "I think what you are doing is great!... The bracelets and all are a very good idea......for a wonderful cause!!
If you are concerned about your customers... list ingredients of each treat. If you feel that people will fear something is wrong with them... then have your own dog - family or friends dogs there too... giving them an occassional treat off the table so people see you are feeding them to yours and they aren't toxic. - I know this would be adding a little more work for you, but why not have a "sampler" table for them to let their pets taste test to see what they like.... make little miniatures and that way - they may buy more from you knowing that their dog likes what they are buying. (sorry, don't mean to add more work for you... just thought it might help ya profit more... and who knows.... could lead into a future business for ya!)"
Big red replied: "I buy home made treats from a local man who also makes natural shampoos and soaps for dogs. He has a list of ingredients on each bag, and he will answer any questions about the safety of certain ingredients. He has also made up a flyer, with references to websites and books, to go in every bag, about suitable human foods for dogs, and more importantly, what you shouldnt give your dog. One of our local vets has lent her signature and name, to verify the facts in his flyer, and to verify the safety of the treats and shampoos for the dogs. If you are dontaing the proceeds to a good cause, i cant see why a vet in your area wouldnt be willing to verify the safety of your dog products too. Give it a try, all you can do is ask."

I'm having a garage sale and I don't know how to price some things..? First off, I have an electric guitar with an amp. It's old but like never been used (I got it for Christmas 3 years ago. It still has the extra strings and pics and everything).. I tried to sell it at our last garage sale, but no one bought it. I priced it at like 100$. What should the price be now?
Also, I have a Vera Bradley duffel bag. It still has the tag on it. I got that one for Christmas last year from my aunt, but I don't really like it. The tag says "Suggested retail: $80." How much should I sell it for?
And the last object: My iPod shuffle. It's the tiny shuffle. I have a new iPod now so I don't really need it. I'm selling it with the charger but without headphones because I don't have another pair. How much should that one go for?
Also, I haven't used the shuffle in a while. The only songs on it are like Hannah Montana (it's been like 3 years, guys, give me a break). How do I delete all of the songs off of it? I can't delete the songs off my iTunes because I use my iTunes.
Thanks in advance everybody!!
This is the bag:

but it's not that color. I think the color "retired". The color is black with like red deisgns on it. Very wintery.
Wait, I found the color. Scroll all the way down, it's the Classic Black.
Also, my mom wont let me use Ebay or Craigslist. And I have other stuff to sell, and none of which are worth selling on Ebay or Craiglist.

Its part of a theory we spend too much time complaining using blame and transference in modern society ideas like leading by example, like showing the truth in actions, like understaning gifts, fruits, gentleness and peaceful joyful patient actions about growth discernment become household ideas for the atonement we celibrate in joy? Why april 4 just because as Yahoo Serious said Four Four time music will drain any energy out of evil, can anyone google any youtube music other than the kitten, like, its gotta be rock and roll music with the cocatoo on the verandah that was a brilliant movie, and yahoo, what a clown! Brilliant, lights camera and ACTION!!!!
Do you want us to reshoot those israeli jets screaming over head, no, it brings us to modern times, can it, its a wrap! Did the tw movies as seventies icons, HAIR and JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, teach us anything in modern life about the living of the gospel and how does the positive role models from music set an example for example? Hillsong? I went there 4 times and even saw tapes CD video on sale in Johnsons Mall in Manila near the Manila Pavilian hotel, near Ermita?
How does the xmas decoration to your world like strings of shopping bags prevent damage but cause celibration from nothing with much love humility and virtue? What would Jesus do? Party? Loaves and fishes but after fasting? What?

How to tell a fake Yamaha Guitar? I don't know much about guitars, I'm just starting to learn and I have found a guitar that I liked online... A girl is selling it on facebook, and I'm supposed to meet her tomorrow to make the purchase/ delivery.
this is what she advertised:
Acoustic guitar from Yamaha model CG 80A purchased in 1993 for sale, in excellent condition and plays beautifully. Has all 6 strings attached (String 4 & 5 replaced - others ARE ORIGINAL STRINGS), I will throw in spare strings for 1, 2, 3 & 6th strings.
Will also include a guitar bag, a tuning fork (C note), a pick and a clothwipe).
This guitar is 16 years old and STILL plays beautifully. It has been well-cared for and comes from a non-smoking home.
Please see below for pictures, please leave a note here if interested. Preferably COD - cash on delivery.
I have looked this guitar up on the Yamaha archives and Google, but there is no record of Yamaha Acoustic CG 80A anywhere...
Am I getting duped ?
P.s. The picture looks like a Classical guitar not Acoustic.
musichoard replied: "yamaha's should be put in a bonfire. they are purely mass production models. if the guitar says yamaha then its probably yamaha. your going to have a hard time finding the specs online of a guitar made sixteen years ago. if your still not sure call yamaha headquarters and get ahold of the archives."
Emo child replied: "Yeah, sounds like it.This is the IDEAL time for long hate mails ;)
If there is no such record then there is no such gitaur, with makes it a nice fake (likely from china)"
Zoe replied: "If you email me the pic on ill see what i think"
Liam replied: "It may well be a genuine Yamaha instrument that simply stopped being made and any information about it hasn't made it's way onto the internet.
However, I suggest you don't buy it; it can't be that good if the seller has to resort to phrases such as 'has all 6 strings attatched'. Besides, 'original strings' on a 16 year old guitar is not a good thing. Strings need to be replaced as regularly as you can afford, they must be rusted and grimy which in turn must have caused at least some damaged to the fretboard. If the strings have been on it for 16 years it hasn't been 'well-cared for' despite what they are claiming."

Planting Arborvitae Help, and a couple other questions about them? I want some evergreen privacy from my neighbors and my local nursery has 5ft dark green arorvitaes(thuja occidentalis nigra) on sale for $25.
My backyard is pretty shaded and I think these will work well but I wanted to get advice on how to plant them.
I want them to grow together thick so you can't see thru, so I figured about 4ft apart, does that sound ok?
They are currently wrapped in a sack at the nursery. The lady there said I should only dig the whole deep enough that half the sack is below ground. Then suggested filling in the rest with compost and making a mound of compost around them.
She said to leave the bag on and the metal ring that holds it together, only to cut the string when done and the bag and metal will deteriorate. Is this the normal way to do it?
I want to give these the best chance of surviving, should i add anything other than compost to the soil? Should I use some type of fertalizer? Good idea to put mulch on top of the mounds to help hold moisture?
One last question, how often should they be watered?
Thanks for any help!
Mist replied: "For the love... I can't believe someone told you to leave the sack AND the METAL on! This is so poor form for tree survival. Remove the sack and gently loosen the roots of the shrub before you plant. For good health, the hole that you plant them in should be 3 times the size of the ball. The roots need room to spread. The crown of the tree (where the trunk goes into the ground and starts the root system) should be should be elevated about 3 inches above the top of the hole. Arborvitae do not like to have wet roots. Good drainage is a must.
Compost for fill in? I've found through personal experience and having a screen of fifteen 15-foot tall Arborvitae, that unless you have a very heavy clay soil, compost is not going to be necessary. Maybe a soil amender like Nature's Helper would work better. It has a mix of organic matter, NOT compost, that helps control moisture. You can also use sand, not more than 5 lbs per plant. Just mix with the soil you dig from the hole. You can also use peat moss (aka. sphagnum peat moss), but use sparingly. It goes a long way. I've used no more than a 15-20% mix with the soil out of the hole. You can use this in conjunction with the sand. I would definitely mix Bone Meal in also. This will help promote healthy root growth. When you pack your soil back into the hole around the roots, be sure to pack the soil down tightly. There should not be any air pockets in the soil.
4 feet apart should work for a thick screen. As far as fertilizer, I've found that Miracle Gro Evergreen Stakes seem to work really well. Use them in the spring. Also in the spring - early summer, you'll need to do some preventative insect spraying. Borers and bag worms like this type of evergreen. Look for a systemic mix like Bayer Tree and Shrub Concentrate and follow the directions. Once these types of insects get started, your trees health will deteriorate rapidly because of the stress they will cause.
Lastly, water consistently. Even though they don't like wet roots these trees for the first year have to have a consistent watering pattern until they are established. So keep them moist! Rain alone is not adequate enough. Deep water (For 5 foot trees, I would say 2-3 gallons of water at each watering) twice a week.
I'm going on my personally experience and my trees are doing great so I hope this helps!"
$Billy Ray$ Valentine replied: "Your choice of Arborbitae as a screening hedge is a good one. I have used these many times in the northwest just for that purpose. The lady is pretty close to what you should do, however, I would only plant deep enough so that you have about 4" of the root ball exposed above the depth of the planting hole. Any more than this would cause the roots to dry out much quicker than is wanted. And yes, it is a good idea to cover the top with a good mulch or peat moss medium. What I don't like about her directions is to "leave" the burlap on the root ball when planting. I have seen this more than once when the burlap was left on and when the plant died a couple years down the road, I dug it up and found that the burlap in fact did "NOT" rot and the roots were bound up (cause of death). If you must leave the burlap on, make sure to untie the top and slice the burlap 3 or 4 times in a vertical cut from top to bottom. This will allow the roots to exit the root ball and grow into the existing soil. I myself prefer to set the root ball into the planting hole and the right depth and then untie the top and pull it down to the bottom of the hole, that way the muddy root ball is totally exposed and root growth is not restricted at all. As far as distance apart to plant, your 4' centers are ok, but if you want to quicken the thickness and screening effect, plant them at 3' 6". This way they will grow together much faster... While filling up the hole with soil you can sprinkle in a handful of 10 - 10 - 10 fertilizer or something comparable, when you have the hole halfway filled. Remember to use the compost or peat moss as the top fill. Keep them moist for the first 1 to 2 weeks depending on the temperatures in your location. After they get established, a good once a week soaking will suffice... Hope this answers your question...Good Luck
Added Info: Arborvitae usually has a death rate of around 10% within the first year after planting. So, if you plant 10 plants, you might have to replace 1 of them sometime in that first year. If you plant 20 expect to have to replace 2 of them (possible).
...Billy Ray"
Piqchure replied: "The compost should be mixed at a ration of 1/3 to 2/3 native soil.
If you have good drainage, make the hole as deep as the rootball is. If your soil is too thick/clay then drainage will be more difficult, do as directed by the nursery.
If the roots are held together with burlap, simply cut off the twine holding it in place. Bend back the metal if possible. Yes, it will rust away within 10 years. The burlap will be gone within 3 years.
Water according to the drainage: sandy/quick, water every day with a dripline. Clay, water every other day, with a drip line. Loamy or just right, water every 36 hours, with a drip line. Drip lines provide the best deep watering. If using sprinklers, run them for at least 2 straight hours to achieve the same water penetration as drip lines.
Green Giants will get about 6 feet wide at maturity (20+ years). How you want them is the 4 feet, thick hedge. However, with the reduced airflow, what you see will be green, anything below the surface will be brown or support stems.
Lastly, when planting, use a slow-release fertilizer for the first year. Next spring apply a "tree and shrub" fertilizer with a ground auger (18" drill bit, also at your nursery). After that, all you need is to make sure the drip lines remain working."

Men should never shop for us...? A man walks into a pharmacy and wanders up and down the aisles. The Sales Girl notices him and asks him if she can help him?
